Since its inception in 1997, Rev has championed WA made cinema and moving image, and 2021 was and is no exception. Throughout the event, we screened 40+ WA produced works across a range of curated programs, some of which were our most successful this year.
We were also very pleased to commission and executive produce four films as part of the City of Vincent Film Project and run quite a number of online Q&A’s with local filmmakers.
We pride ourselves on the big-screen presentation of all the works in the program, and we understand the profound moment for filmmakers in having their film screen in the highest possible fidelity in a professional cinema context. As a result, you won’t see us relegating the short form to a bar or cafe, but respecting the work and the importance of the moment for filmmakers by providing the opportunity for them to soar on the big screen.
With a comprehensive program that includes Get Your Shorts On and City of Vincent Film Project titles, the second year of our Westralia Day program at the Backlot as well as being fully integrated into our experimental, animation and shorts-with-features programs, Rev provides a ton of local films on show, on the big screen and with ample opportunity for audiences to hear directly from these extraordinary screen artists.
For the longer term, experience more than 100 local films as part of Made in WA section of RevStream and if you’re a filmmaker, send us your film to include.
We can’t wait to bring more locally produced work to you as well as acknowledge achievement and innovation in WA moving image forms with the WA Screen Culture Awards.
