Truth is much stranger than fiction in this fascinating tale of one of the most enigmatic figures of the international automobile industry.
John DeLorean had it all. As an upstart executive at General Motors he guided the Pontiac division to new and unexpected profits which itself sent GM into record profit territory. But it wasn’t his business and design acumen that drew interest from his superiors, it was his playboy lifestyle. But DeLorean had bigger dreams for his future than another faceless executive and set about building his own car empire – the DeLorean Motor Company.
Internationally, DeLorean was made famous by its use as a time machine in the Back to the Future series. In real life, DeLorean’s sleek and futuristic vehicle had its own story of triumph, double-dealing, drugs, crime figures, the FBI, Margaret Thatcher, beautiful women and broken families – and this fascinating documentary brings it all unflinchingly to the table.
An absorbing mix of dramitised stories starring Alec Baldwin, interviews and archival footage, Framing John DeLorean is always great viewing, examining the mind of a flawed genius.
