Carmine Street Guitars

Official Selection: Toronto Film Festval

Located deep in New York’s Greenwich Village, Carmine Street Guitars survives despite the gentrification. Here Rick Kelly and his apprentice Cindy Hulej create beautifully designed custom made guitars, using wood reclaimed from local buildings.

In Ron (Comic Book Confidential) Mann‘s beautiful film they all pass through the store; playing, talking, and just hanging out. Jim Jarmusch, Lenny Kaye, Charlie Sexton, Bill Frisell, Jamie Hince, Marc Ribot, Christine Bougie, Nels Cline and Eszter Balint all appear, creating an informal community of musicians.

Carmine Street Guitars is s gentle celebration of artistic creativity, community, and guitar playing. This is a film that finds the true pleasures of music.
