Set in a rundown slum suburb dominated by hardship and violence, the only option seems to be crime. Sheeple tells the story of Shahin (a brilliant performance from Navid Mohammadzadeh) a small time crook with ambitious dreams of power, and his crime lord brother Shakoor (Farhad Aslani), who leads a gang of drug dealers. Events take a turn for the worse when they discover that their sister Shohreh (Marjan Ettefaghian) has a secret, and everything rapidly changes.
An atmosphere of grime permeates Sheeple. The lives of the violent petty criminals are mired in a seemingly endless cycle of deprivation. Hard edged but with a human undertow, Sheeple has won numerous awards, and it’s easy to see why.
