6 JULY - Q&A WITH JONATHAN OGILVIE

Christchurch, New Zealand, 1979, and Angus (Ed Oxenbould, Paper Planes, The Visit, Before Dawn) is an outsider, his parents are estranged and his older brother is overseas.

Meanwhile he is fascinated by punk and post-punk and dreams of being a bassist in a band.

A growing friendship with shop assistant Kirsten (Stella Bennett aka Benee), the mysterious older punk (Roxie Mohebbi), and a conversation in the record shop could be all he needs….

An entertaining, wryly funny coming of age movie, Head South opened Rotterdam Film Festival, where it won the audience’s approval, and it’s easy to see why – this is the outsider coming of age movie we need, laced with just enough nostalgia for every outsider’s youth.
