The Revelation Perth International Film Festival is thrilled to announce the return of its eighth
Annual collaboration with the City of Vincent through the City of Vincent Film Project.
The only project of its kind in Australia, the City of Vincent Film Project offers funding to three local filmmakers to create non-fiction shorts (10 minutes or less) that highlight compelling stories from within the municipality.
Each selected filmmaker will receive a total of $8,000, comprising $7,000 in cash and $1,000 in kind support from Perth’s leading camera equipment rental provider, Raz Rentals. The project includes comprehensive mentorship throughout the filmmaking process, covering everything from technical skills and storytelling to post-production and marketing strategies, offering invaluable opportunity for filmmakers to gain hands-on experience and insights into the art of filmmaking.
“The City of Vincent’s ongoing, seven-year partnership with Revelation Perth International Film Festival on the Film Project has been the perfect stepping stone for emerging filmmakers,” says City of Vincent Mayor, Alison Xamon.
“We are incredibly lucky to have countless stories and legends in Vincent that are waiting to be told through the big screen.I encourage local talents to apply for funding to turn their dream short films into reality.”
“Since its inception, the City of Vincent Film Project has produced over 20 short films, many of which have been showcased at festivals worldwide. A standout example is Radheya Jegatheva’s Pacing the Pool, which has garnered an impressive 172 Official Selections – including 19 in Australia – screened in 39 countries across six continents, and won 40 awards. Recently, it was selected for the WHO’s Health for All Film Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. We are honoured to witness the ongoing success of this film, which tells the inspiring story of local man Richard Pace and his daily swims at Beatty Park to combat a debilitating bone disease,” says Revelation Perth International Film Festival Director, Richard Sowada.
Applications are currently open and can be made via the City of Vincent website at www.vincent.wa.gov.au/filmproject. Applications close 11 November 2024 with the finalists announced on 27 November 2024.
The successful films will screen at a special gala during the annual Revelation Perth International Film Festival in July.
