2024 WA Screen Culture Awards Submissions Now Open: New Animation Category Added
The WA Screen Culture Awards (WASCAs) proudly announce that submissions for their fifth annual celebration are now open. This year’s event will take place on Sunday 1 December at Luna Palace Cinemas Leederville.
Established by the team behind the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, the WASCAs are dedicated to recognising and honouring the exceptional talent and innovation within WA’s vibrant screen industry.
This year marks an exciting milestone with the introduction of a new category, reflecting the continued growth and dynamism of the awards and the WA screen sector it celebrates.
Richard Sowada, Director of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival, says, “the WA screen sector continues to thrive across all its forms, from the influential impact of independent productions on the national stage to the expanding scope of interstate and international collaborations. Our sector’s rapid advancements in gaming and other areas highlight the need to recognise and celebrate our extraordinary achievements.”
Sowada further emphasises, “the WASCA’s stand out as the only Australian awards event that acknowledges achievement and innovation across every facet of the screen industry – from traditional narrative and documentary formats to immersive experiences, gaming, and beyond. In 2024, we’re excited to enhance this celebration with a new category: Innovation in Animation.”
