We've had an amazing response to our 2013 international call for entries with a record number of films received. The quality of the works has been dazzling with some of the best animations and experimental works we've seen for years arriving on our doorstep. We've also had our biggest intake from the Asia Pacific region which bodes well for the July event.
We're hunkered down and moving through the entries with decisions to be made in the next three weeks.
One of the highlights of Revelation each year is Revel-8 - our very own Super 8 filmmaking competition.
First-timers and seasoned Super8-ers are encouraged to enter this year’s Revel-8 Film Fest to experience the exciting and challenging medium of celluloid’s smallest film format.
Be inspired by this year’s theme: ‘Phobia!’ where you get to put your creative juices into a 3-and-a-half minute short in a fest with a difference! Revel-8 makes the Super 8 journey easy by providing one black and white OR colour film cartridge AND processing it for you.
The challenge is all Revel-8 films must be shot in sequence on the one Super 8 cartridge – no retakes necessary!
All you have to do is shoot the film and then the very talented music composition students from the WA Academy of Performing Arts will compose and record music soundtracks for shortlisted films.
Watch in anticipation as the Super 8 films premiere to their makers for the first time on the big screen at the Luna.
Awards to be presented on the night include Best Film, Best Music Soundtrack, Best Cinematography, Audience Choice Award and more.
